Frequently Asked Questions

Multiple releases – multiple orders.

As a general rule, we suggest multiple releases to offer the best chance of achieving a satisfactory outcome.  Releases should start early at the first hint of pest pressure.  This approach is quite unlike that for pesticides which are often applied after a significant problem has already developed.  The problem with this is that pesticides rarely kill all the pest species and often harm beneficials so that secondary flare is a common occurrence.

Beneficial insects and mites must be deployed into the crop as soon as possible after you receive them. They cannot be kept for later release unless within a few days and they are stored under optimal conditions.

All the biocontrol agents that you order must be released as soon as possible after you receive them. Follow the instructions carefully.  A follow up release – be it 2, 3 or 6 weeks later must be from a fresh order.  It is simply not possible to keep beneficial insects and mites from one order for the application of multiple releases.

Disclaimer:

While we make every effort to supply you with beneficial insects and mites to help improve your pest management, and to reduce the need for pesticides, we cannot guarantee the outcome in every situation.  Our biocontrol agents do feed readily on the species that we have specified in our tech sheets and on our website.  However, there are many variables including accurate pest identification, plant species, pest density, numbers of beneficials released, environmental conditions and history of pesticide usage that influence the outcomes.  We will always do our best to help you achieve a positive outcome but we simply cannot guarantee that your problem will be solved to your satisfaction.  Because every situation is unique we are constantly learning about how best to use our good bugs.  We appreciate any feedback from your experience.
