Frequently Asked Questions

Questions about clothes moths wasps

Hello,

I am having clothes moth problems and want to purchase the clothes moth wasp.  I have some questions:

1 – How long will the clothes wasps be living in my wardrobe/house?
The wasps you release will survive for just for a few days. They quickly lay eggs into moth eggs. The offspring (wasp larvae) will develop over a period of 10-14 days and subsequently emerge as adult wasps to mate and continue the cycle.

2 – How often do I need to ‘release’ the grown wasps from the container?
Simply put the cups (or cardboard cells) in and around affected areas after they arrive. You only need to do this once each time you make a release.

3- How long does it take for them to eliminate the clothes moth?
Biological control will rarely ‘eliminate’ anything. Nor do chemicals in our experience.
You should achieve a population reduction over time and may need to make multiple releases. A lot will depend on the severity of the pest population and environmental conditions.

4 – How often will I need to reorder another clothes moth wasp package – only when I notice clothes moths or ongoing as a preventative measure?
We suggest to release monthly for perhaps 4 months and to assess the situation. Make sure you read the information on our website thoroughly as we recommend a suite of actions to help manage what is a difficult pest.

While we make every effort to supply you with beneficial insects and mites to help improve your pest management, and to reduce the need for pesticides, we cannot guarantee the outcome in every situation.  Our biocontrol agents do feed readily on the species that we have specified in our tech sheets and on our website.  However, there are many variables including accurate pest identification, plant species, pest density, numbers of beneficials released, environmental conditions and history of pesticide usage that influence the outcomes.  We will always do our best to help you achieve a positive outcome but we simply cannot guarantee that your problem will be solved to your satisfaction.  Because every situation is unique we are constantly learning about how best to use our good bugs.  We appreciate any feedback from your experience.
